New Port Richey

New Port Richey is a small suburban city in western Pasco County. In fact, the city is only 4 square miles and has about 16,000 residents. The main attractions in the city are Sims Park, the Pithlachascotee River (call it the Cotee to sound like a local) and Orange Lake.

Sometimes people get confused between Port Richey and New Port Richey. They are their own cities. In 1914 the area around Orange Lake was being called "New Port Richey" and the older part of Port Richey was called "Old Port Richey." A post office was established soon thereafter and the two towns became official.

The city is known for its close proximity to the beach as well as its parks. New Port Richey has 9 parks!

The Pasco County school district serves New Port Richey at these schools: Marlowe Elementary and Richey Elementary. Kids also attend Gulf Middle School and Gulf High School (IB).
