South Tampa is located, you guessed it, south of downtown Tampa. It is basically the area south of I-275 to the Bay. It includes smaller neighborhoods like Hyde Park, Westshore, Palm Ceia, Bayshore and Sunset Gardens. Some even consider the two islands just south of downtown (Davis Islands and Harbour Island) part of the South Tampa community.

Real estate in South Tampa is some of the most expensive in all of Tampa Bay. And for good reason. It’s close to downtown and the airport, close to interstates to take you to the beaches or Orlando and it’s just a beautiful area close to the Bay. Many of the streets are tree-lined with historic homes. There are single family homes, condos (some on the water) and townhouses. There are million dollar mansions along Bayshore Boulevard, historic homes, waterfront estates, new construction and more.
Best Things to Do in South Tampa
Enjoying the outdoors and shopping are two of our favorite things to do in South Tampa. A walk along Bayshore Boulevard, the longest continuous sidewalk in the world at 4.5 miles, gives beautiful views of the Bay and downtown Tampa. And even a peak at a dolphin once and a while. There are also cute shops and amazing restaurants in Hyde Park and downtown area.
Parks in South Tampa
Although close to downtown Tampa, South Tampa is loved for its quiet neighborhoods and close community. The parks offer playgrounds, shaded benches and even boat ramps.
