Fun Things to do in Downtown Tampa

One of our favorite parts of downtown Tampa is the up-and-coming Riverwalk area along the Hillsborough River including Armature Works!

Armature Works is a fully restored mixed-use building that breathes new life into Tampa Heights and the Tampa Riverwalk area. It was once a dilapidated maintenance barn for TECO streetcars and trolleys more than a century ago. Located north of downtown Tampa on the Hillsborough River, the building has been reinvented as the Heights Public Market, a rooftop lounge, restaurants and public and private event space.

There is indoor and outdoor seating and so many different food options from wood-fired pizza to sushi to sandwiches to tacos. And of course desserts! It is a food-lovers dream with something for everyone.

Outdoors around Amature Works there are tables to eat at but also lots of green space to throw down a blanket and enjoy a book or even bring your dog for a day out. There is also a small live music venue in the area.

Close to Amature Works, still along the Riverwalk, is a kids splash area called Waterworks. There are fountains for the kids to run through as well as other water features. And it’s free!

Walking along the Riverwalk is beautiful and you’ll walk past several other restaurants including our favorite Uleles.
