Epic spots for a Tampa Bay sunset
Want to catch an epic sunset? Pack a picnic and head to one of these 5 fabulous spots in Tampa Bay to see the sunset.
Sunset Beach Park
One of my local favorites! True to its name, this is a spectacular place in Tarpon Springs to view the sun setting into the Gulf of Mexico. It gets busy at sunset so get there early and bring a picnic and a blanket. The park also has barbecue grills, sheltered picnic tables and restrooms.
This won’t be a solitary sunset as Clearwater Beach is one of the most crowded in the area. But the sunset is breathtaking. If you don’t want to be on the sane beach you can go enjoy the Pier 60 boardwalk. There is a nightly sunset celebration with street performers which begins an hour before sunset and continues until an hour past sundown.
Curtis Hixon Park
Located along the Hillsborough River and framed by the University of Tampa, this popular downtown park is a great spot have a picnic and watch the sun sink down behind the university.
Davis Islands Beach
Framed by boats anchored in the Bay, this small beach has lots of space to spread out and soak in the sunset. Have a dog? Bring your pup along to splash and play at the dog beach.
Ballast Point Park
Located right at the end of Bayshore Blvd (where it turns to Interbay past Gandy), Ballast Point Park is a great place to watch the sunset. You’ll be impressed with the views of the downtown skyline and the rich colors reflecting off of the Bay water. There’s also a pier if you want to take a stroll at sunset.
